Introducing the TR VB870 Turbo Upgrade for the 2022+ Subaru WRX—our largest, highest-flow direct-fit turbocharger for the FA24DIT platform. Designed as the step above the VB670 (TR-TS1055), the VB870 delivers significantly increased airflow capacity, greater top-end power potential, and the headroom needed for high-boost, high-horsepower builds. Despite its larger frame, the turbo retains direct OEM fitment for seamless, bolt-on installation with no modifications required.

At the core of the TR-TS1056 is a Ball Bearing CHRA engineered for rapid spool and excellent durability. The upgraded billet 9-blade compressor wheel, measuring 61.76mm on the inducer side and 76.68mm on the exducer, provides a substantial leap in airflow over both the OEM turbo and the VB670, enabling strong mid-range pull and exceptional top-end performance.

To support the increased compressor flow, the turbo is paired with a high-efficiency 60/55mm 9-blade turbine wheel, offering improved exhaust flow capability for high-boost applications. The lightweight, point-milled billet aluminum wheel enhances strength and responsiveness, ensuring fast spool characteristics relative to its size.

Professionally assembled and VSR-balanced, the VB870 is built to withstand demanding street and track use while providing the performance ceiling required for serious FA24DIT builds.

VB670 vs. VB870 – What’s the Difference?

Tomioka Racing now offers two performance levels for the 2022+ Subaru WRX FA24DIT platform:

  • VB670 (TR-TS1055): Fast-spooling performance turbo designed for strong street power and quick response. Ideal for stock-location builds targeting balanced daily driving and performance.
  • VB870 (TR-TS1056): Larger-frame, higher-flow turbo designed for high-boost, high-horsepower setups. Ideal for customers seeking significantly more top-end power and additional tuning headroom.

In short, the VB670 offers excellent response and drivability, while the VB870 delivers the airflow and capacity needed for the highest power builds on the FA24DIT platform.

Note on Turbo Inlet Compatibility:
The Perrin turbo inlet is compatible with the TR VB870 Turbo. We have tested it on our shop VB and modified (lightly ground) the inlet for a larger opening to achieve maximum efficiency. Tomioka Racing is currently developing our own TR turbo inlet, designed specifically for the VB870, which will be available soon.
